Restore Your Smile With Dental Implants

Having missing teeth can negatively impact your confidence and lifestyle. Not only that, these gaps can lead to dental complications if left untreated. Fortunately, if you’re looking for a restorative solution to replace your missing teeth, dental implants may be the perfect dental procedure for you.

At NJ Center for Oral Surgery, we offer durable, customized dental implants that’ll enhance your smile and improve your oral health. Learn more about our restorative solution.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants provide a foundation for a replacement crown that looks, feels, and functions like natural teeth. Using tiny titanium posts that act as a root substitute, these are placed into the jawbone where your teeth are missing. The post itself acts as a stable anchor for your restorations.

This restorative treatment is a long-lasting solution to tooth loss and will restore your ability to eat, speak, and smile confidently.

Benefits of Dental Implants

There are many benefits to receiving dental implants such as:

  • Customized for you
  • Natural-looking
  • Secure fit
  • Restores the ability to speak & chew
  • Prevent jawbone deterioration
  • Easy to maintain

Dental Implant Candidates

Dental implants are a permanent solution for patients who are missing one or more teeth. In order to qualify for the restoration treatment, an ideal candidate should have:

  • Jawbone density
  • Healthy gums
  • Great overall health

Dental Implant Process

Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation with one of our surgeons, they’ll evaluate your oral health, including your jawbone density. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions and concerns you may have about the procedure. Once it’s determined that dental implants are the right solution for you, we’ll begin to create a customized treatment that meets your specific needs. You’ll also be given a prescription for an antibiotic to begin taking an hour before your appointment.

Placing Your Implant

When you come back to our office to start the placement, your surgeon will administer local anesthesia to ensure a comfortable and stress-free environment during your procedure. We also offer other sedation options if you prefer a more pleasant experience. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

First, a two mm hole in the jawbone and gradually widening it in order to match before placing the titanium implant. The implant is threaded through the gum into the bone and a radiograph will be obtained from the implant. You’ll leave the office with a temporary crown that protects the implant areas and begin the healing period.

For the next two to three months, the implants will naturally fuse with your jawbone through the osseointegration process.

Final Restoration

Most often the procedure is done in one single stage, where only one surgical visit is necessary. In some cases, the implant is placed below the gum to allow for additional bone growth through the bone graft treatment. In that case, after you’ve healed, a simple, painless procedure will be done to uncover the implant and attach the natural-looking prosthetic tooth. You’ll walk out of the office with a brand new smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the implant procedure painful?

With the help of local anesthesia and our sedation options, many of our patients report feeling little to no pain. Our staff will closely monitor you throughout the procedure to ensure a pain-free and comfortable experience.

After the procedure, you may experience some discomfort, swelling, and bleeding. However, it can be easily managed by over-the-counter medications. If you continue to feel pain, call our Caldwell office at NJ Center for Oral Surgery Phone Number 973-226-8444 or our Florham Park office at Florham Park Office (North Tower) Phone Number 973-261-8444 where our staff will assist you.

How much do implants cost?

The cost of your implant varies due to your specific needs. At NJ Center for Oral Surgery, we offer a single all-inclusive fee for the entire process, including:

  • The surgical visit, including the actual implant
  • All postoperative radiographs
  • All parts and procedures that are required for your dentist to restore the implant
  • Yearly periodic follow-up exams and radiographs for the first five years after the implant placement

Additionally, if you’re healthy and have no dental diseases, you may qualify for an integration guarantee. Overall, there are no hidden costs or charges. If you have any more questions, please ask your surgeon for more information about this fee.

How are dental implants different from dentures?

Dental implants are permanent and non-removable while dentures are removable prosthetic teeth replacements. Dentures have to be removed and soaked in a special solution each night and are known to be uncomfortable and can slip out of your mouth easily for most patients.

Dental implants are secured to your jaw and can last for a lifetime. Implants are also known to stimulate your jaw to prevent bone from weakening and can maintain your facial shape.

How do I care for my implants?

Dental implants can last a lifetime with proper oral hygiene care. Fortunately, taking care of your implants is similar to taking care of your natural teeth. To ensure longevity, your surgeon recommends following the instructions:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush
  • Floss daily
  • Schedule regular biannual visits with your dentist and oral surgeon
